The Costa Del Sol coastal railway line (C1 Cercanias line) between Malaga and Fuengirola has seen its last UT-446 EMU train now that RENFE the Spanish rail operator has replaced the entire fleet with new modern and comfortable Civia units. The Civia units can carry more passengers and are more wheelchair friendly. The UT-4 have been in service on the C1 line since 1989. The new Civia trains can reach a speed of 120 kilometres per hour nad have room for 600 passengers.I recently travelled on the new trains and they are a big improvement on the old ones.

Railway Trip To Malaga

Enjoyable Ride on the Costa del Sol Coastal Railway

The Costa del Sol coastal railway runs from the city of Malaga down the coast through Torremolinos, Benalmadena and terminates at Fuengirola. My husband and I recently went for a return journey from Carvaial (Two stops out of Fuengirola to Malaga City.

The line serves a very busy built up costal area including commercial developments, holiday complexes and housing. Carvaial station like those on the rest of the line as been modernized and is kept in good condition. You buy your tickets from a machine that is multi lingual and easy to use. The fares are cheap and there is a train every half hour throughout the day.

The line itself is electrified and serves some 22 stations and is extremely busy. You can get many good views from the train including sea view. It is nice to see a different view of the Costa del Sol than the one you get used to from a car. As you travel into the City of Malaga you can see evidence of work on the new Malaga Metro You can also see the new high speed line and old line from the north trailing in on the left hand side. The new standard gauge high speed line is served by AVE trains to Madrid and Barcelona. The old line has a local service to Alora.

The newly rebuilt main station in Malaga is an impressive complex with many shops and entertainment venues. The railway facilities are first class and give passengers a very favorable impression of Malaga. We spent an hour looking round the station and had nice tapas at one of the many eating establishments in the new station. Our train on the return journey was packed with people standing. At each station those passengers who left were replaces by more who joined the train. It was only when we reached Benalmadena that everyone found a seat.

The old EMUs on the line are due to be replaced later in the year by new citidas units. Plans to extend the line are in hand to extend the line in the short term to San Pedro de la Alcantara and eventually all the way to Algeciras. I would recommend that anyone visiting the Costa del Sol make at least one journey on the line for the views and that it is quite possible to organize a number of days out to various places served by the line as a very cheap alternative to using a car in what is at times an extremely congested road network.

El Burgo In the Sun

Just joined twitter, thought it was time to promote our home a bit more, we have
found several houses that we like just need a buyer for ours.

The summer fiestas are upon us and there's a lot going on. The weather here is great we have not had any rain for 6 weeks and I have got my tan back, this Sunday we have a fiesta which is held down by the river in the National forest.

The fiesta will start in the village of El Burgo at the Church The Virgin will be taken down to the river carried by 20 plus men, the journey goes from the church down 100 steps down the main street and on to the the river a total of 2mile.

People of all ages will be singing, dancing and enjoying the free food and entertainment provided by the town council of El Burgo. Time to meet old friends and make new ones.

The Paella is always cooked by the local women and everyone as to have a stir, the music and dancing take place looked on by the Virgin of the Sierra de la Nieves
Tomorrow we are going the the lakes will take pictures and load them on to photo gallery for you to see. Will hopefully have others sorted out to put on as well

Many of us living in sunny Spain like having our annual visitors to stay but sometimes the welcome wears a bit thin. One of my friends, at the end of her tether, sent the following to her family, not entirely tongue in cheek. It really does strike a chord.

Dear all,

Yes of course we would love to see you again this year, but we have to tell you that there will be a few changes:

1 We recommend that you hire a car from the airport as we no longer do free airport pick-ups and deliveries.

2 Day-time flights only, please. We go to bed at midnight, so no middle of the night flights (however cheap)

3 We no longer complete with the all inclusive hotel holiday deals. We do not provide breakfast, lunch and dinner together with all-day snacks and of course alcoholic refreshments. We will of course tell you where the best menus del dia (mid day meal) can be found.

4 We do not have a live-in-maid, so you are responsible for making your bed, mopping the floor and keeping the bathroom clean.

5 We do not provide a free laundry service so please bring your own hand, bath and beach towels, or contribute to the soaring cost of electricity to keep washing ours for you.

6 Our daily, free sightseeing trips to local places of interest have been cancelled because we are sick to death of looking at the save caves and views etc over and over again. We will provide maps and information for you to explore on your own.

7 Our free telephone service to the UK has been suspended, use your own mobiles.

8 You may be on holiday and want to stay out until 3 in the morning, but we live here, so keep quite when you come home.

9 Should you wish to spend time lazing around our pool and prefer to stay in, we shall expect help with food preparation, shopping etc, we will operate a joint kitty, from which all food and drink shopping cost of petrol for joint trips etc will be deducted.

10 We are retire and living on our pensions which, due to the awful exchange rate and decreasing each month – so we were considering coming over to you for two weeks instead.

Wherever tourists gather, be it at a castle, railway station or in a café bar you are more than likely to be approached by gypsies offering bunches of roses and or other plants. These can be very nice and a good buy but be careful. If this happens, first hang on to your bag. They are often in groups and whilst you are looking at the offerings, another picks your pocket or your bag. It happens all the time.

You will come across beggars everywhere, outside supermarkets at the bus station and again at tourist attractions. They often have a sign printed in English telling you their story. You may be approached by children or by young women with a card saying that they are refugees and have no money. If you feel strongly about these issues you should make a donation to a registered charity as often money given in the streets ends up in the pockets of organized gangs.

Finally, how to deal with the Looky, Looky men of African origin who sell CDs DVDs and watches, toys and sunglasses. More and more they drop by your table as you enjoy your coffee in the sun. They have a great sales pitch but the goods are sometimes worthless. If you are tempted to buy it is always a good idea to ask around bar owners and local residents to find out who are the regular and reputable Looky, Looky men because some of their stuff can be ok. If you do not want to do business with them Keep your money in you wallet or purse Smile and say no thank you and they will go away.

Chiringuitos Saved

The ministry of the Environment has now said that the beach restaurants – chiringuitos – can stay on the sand without disciplinary action being taken against them.

Only those where a move is easily possible off the sand will do so, and only with the agreement of the owners.

This is a new concession on the part of central government, which had announced pans to impose the 18 year old Ley de Costas (coastal law) which decreed that all beech was public land and the restaurants should be moved off it.

It as now been decided that the chiringuitos are now beach installations and no further action will be taken.

It’s been a couple of months since I last posted on my blog. We have been busy collecting the olive crop from my smallholding. This is hard but satisfying work beating the trees with a long pole, collecting the olives in nets on the floor, filling sacks and taking the olives to the local olive factory for processing into virgin olive oil.

We have had additions to the family, my bitch Becky as given birth to three pups, Maggie, Rosie and Paca, they are beautiful little things. Their proud father Pepi plays with them all the time.

On January 31st 2009 we decided that we will sell our current home in Spain, I am very excited that we have taken the decision. My husband is not well and moving nearer to family on the Costa del Sol will be a help to me if needed.

That said we will treat it as a new adventure and we are looking forward to the move, they say the housing market in Spain is depressed and nothing is moving, that may be so however we believe that every house as a buyer waiting for it so here goes.

Thinking of coming to live in inland Spain? Our home is nestled in a valley midway between Yunquera and El Burgo in Malaga Province, Anderlusia. On entering the valley you encounter a rough road which is made good each year by the National Park. Drive along a little way and you enter the valley proper.

There are 20 plus property’s here and it is so beautiful and peaceful,l a place to die for as they say. Only three homes are occupied full time the rest are weekend homes for people who live and work in Malaga and Ronda

Low and behold Thursday February 12th 2009 the electric people have arrived to start installing the high tension power so that at last we will have real electricity, wow thought we would have moved before it arrived.

We use a generator for electricity, we have our own legal well and get good sweet drinking water. There are three good size bedrooms, a large bathroom, living room and kitchen with breakfast bar, every window looks out onto fantastic views. Plus it is a legal build

The property sits in 25,000m2 of fenced land it is in 2 plots one with the house on and the other has a footprint for a house, we have olive, lemon, orange, fig, almond, avocado, walnut, carob, cherry, apple and pear trees.

Two years ago we planted a fruit orchard of quince, pomegranate, peaches, apricots and plums, we also have an allotment for growing our own vegetables.

We have 5000m2 of pine forest which is part of the Sierra de las Nieves National Park with pine and cork trees, wild rosemary, lavender, sage and lots of rare wild plants plus wild mushrooms, many of the plants I'm still trying to find out the names of. We get plenty of wood for winter fires, the national forest workers cut it leave some for the locals to collect plus there are always thousands of cones to collect which are great for starting you fire and helping to keep it burning if the wood gets a bit damp.

We have set aside land for a swimming pool and greenhouses, leaving plenty of land over for growing other crops, and keeping animals. With 34 chickens keeps us in eggs with some left over which we sell to the locals in the village of El Burgo.

We are ideally placed for rural tourism which can be grant eligible, The Spanish Government are looking to give help to bring tourist and jobs to Spain

New Year Resolutions

First I have to say sorry Ive not been keeping my blogs up this year.

Well we have finished picking the olives for oil that as kept us busy until the middle of January and now we are ready to make our New Year Resolutions for the year.

February is a good time to make ours, most people will have made them by now and broken them by now. As we are taking a breath before the next round of work its time for us to make ours, we like to look on them as goals

Our first one is we are going to sell our home here in Spain and move nearer to family nearer to the coast still in Spain.

Second its time to move our Internet Business forward, so there will be articles, motivation and advice for you to follow, as well as my posts on selling our home, which I hope you read its call As My Home Got Your Name On It.

Third to set up our other websites more about them later.

Fourth to finish my ebook which is nearly there, got bogged down with e-book compilers.

Itś oh so easy to get way laid when you work from home there are so many things that just happen to pop up that you just have to do.

Snow, Snow and more Snow

Part 3: For the last week we have had SNOW. Thursday the first day we had
four inches in three hours every thing looked fantastic, just like
a christmas card. The second day the internet went down not to be
seen again untill today Tuesday.

We have used a months wood in one week so now we will have to
stock up with more, it's a good job we live in the National Park.

The previous weeks gails brought down several trees, the forest
commission send men out to cut them up into logs and they always
leave plenty for the locals to collect you just have to know where
they leave them.

So that is our next job first dry day we have.

The dogs loved it they have never seen snow and thought it was
great fun, chickens poor things could not understand it and
stopped laying their eggs and the sheep they just went into
their barn and stayed there.

I've taken pictures on my mobile just need to find disc to download
them to my laptop

The locals say the last time it was like this was thirty years ago and
never as early as November,

Who would have thought we live in Sunny Spain still every cloud as a
Silver Lining I got all my housework done, no washing but I caught
up with my ironing and more important I have caught up with my writing.

Today Started of with Good Intensions Again

Part 2: It is now one week later, I trot down to the local IT centre this morning, the sun is out and every thing is right with the world, last week was the challenge of not being able to delete messages from my autoresponder so I went home and deleted the work and put in a new draft copy of my course to test when I arrived today.

So here we are again, logged into my auto responder account, my work is waiting to be tested great this should not take to long. Silly me how wrong could I be, clicked on test and hey a blank green screen appears "wheres my fountain of all knowledge" over he trots and I show him what's gone wrong and I'm told the sites blocked, but I say it was working ok last week and he say's yep but it's not this. That's Spain for you.

Well what is an IT centre for? (a taking shop about what you can and can't do on the computors)

Well what to do now another challange to sort out.

Today is Wednesday and on Friday we could go to the coast some 50 miles away. My cousin has an apartment and the internet connectin is good "sometimes" should I risk it. The other option is to load one part of my course a day in the morning when the connection is a little better.

They say every cloud as a silver lining so I'll look on the bright side if I'm on the coast and the internet is no good we can go down to the beach for an hour and relax.

I feel sorry for the expats here at the centre soon we will not be able to access any sites at all, at least we have the option of a ride to the coast. Sand, Sea, Sunshine and Internet fantastic I hope.

Part 1: Today started of with good intensions, my goal was to set up a new campaign with my auto responder.

So of I trot to the local IT centre, after having written my course ready to load on to their fast computers. Finished in record time one hour, did my tests great, found some mistakes never mind plenty of time to alter them before I go for lunch.

Wow MESSAGE CAME UP ON THE SCREEN sorry you cannot delete your messsage from your autoresponder. PANIC what have I done wrong and where is the great guy who is the fountain of all knowledge (just popped out to do his shopping).

Ok not to worry, head for the Questions and Answer section in my Autoresponder, no answer to my challenge there.

Great the fountain of all knowledge as just arrived back, he tells me its the way the computors are set up so that people cannot go into your work and delete it.

What a fantastic idea, only thing is I can edite my work but will have to delete any messages I don't want from home.

No problem just means that my new campain will have go out next week. Hope the IT centre is open.

Welcome To My World, Won't You Come On In?

I woke up this morning feeling great, the sun is shining the snow as gone except on the very top of the mountains. What a day yesterday was, one of my friend went back to the UK a week ago because her mum was not well, and yesterday I heard her mum had passed away.

My husband was watching the Spanish news and what a treat that was. They were interviewing people around the world asking how they felt about the man who had just been voted in as President off America.

I have never seen such a reaction since Nelson Mandela was released in South Africa.

Next I watched a DVD by a guy called Willie Jolley and yes that’s his real name how true were his words. If you want to see a change you have to change what you are doing now.

And last but not least Hamilton won the Grand Pri what an inspiration for the young people of the world.

I don’t want my blog to become a political battlefield so when you read my blog today please think hard and long.

What did all four of these men advocated? (CHANGE). People all over the world are hurting, no matter what class you think you are, we are all feeling the effects of the financial crisis (The World Recession) people are losing their jobs and their homes.

Here in Spain the men are losing their jobs because the building industry is collapsing round our ears, and many of their women are going each day to collect hand outs of food, this is a hard thing for them to do as they are a proud people. Many family’s have only 700 euros a month coming in to live the rents for many of these people is around 500 euro.

The expat’s are handing in the keys to their homes back to the banks because they cannot pay their mortgages, they are going back to the country they left, many of them are retired and have seen their pensions reduced by 40%

Many have lost their dream of living a better life, I’m sure everybody out there as a similar story to tell

WOW I THINK WE ARE READY FOR A CHANGE

I hope that when people all over the world look at the New President of America it will rekindle the idea of the American Dream, that no matter who, what or where you are in life we can all Succeed

I might not be able to post this whilst tomorrow as we have no Internet connection this morning. Every Cloud as a Silver Lining my husband as collected wood and corns for the fire, brought the logs in of the dry pile and put wet logs to dry in the sun.

As for myself I’ve turned over some more land and planted 30 cabbage and 30 cauiflowers plants. The vegetable garden is looking great, some of the tree in the orchard are already getting buds on ready for next years fruit.

I’ve caught up with some mundane housework, not my favorite job and best of all I’ve worked on getting some blogs ready to post and it only 10-17 in the morning

Snow Covered Mountains

November 3rd what a surprise, woke up this morning and the mountains are covered in snow, locals say it as been thirty years since there as been snow so early and they say we have “global warming”.

The Costa Del Sol is known for all year round sun, we have been here four years leaving a cold Britain for warmer climates (Sunny Spain), the first year here I got sun stroke on Christmas Day.

Never mind if I can get the internet to stay connected should be able to get more work done on the business, will not hold my breath though as the internet disconnected itself nine times in the last three hours.

Sat at my computer glass of red wine by my side, I’ve decided to make the most of the internet once again going down and am catching up on my writing. I’d like to thank the people who have left comments on my blog and when my computer is live I will be paying them a visit.

My book is still making progress and nearly ready to publish as an ebook. There are lots of things I need to be getting on with, I've, wrote two articles this afternoon and now looking to get them out there on the net. Great the nets on again better get this on my blog before it goes of again.

No Time To Spare

My last post here was August the 14th, but that does not mean that my journey has stopped, far from it.

Trying to get my head round how to complete my ebook project was a nightmare, so I thought I would share the experiance with you as I made progressed, that part of my journey is nearly complete four more parts to go. Take a look at my blog Starting An Ebook Business.

The last two months have been very hectic for our household, Growing fruit and veg, Almond picking, picking olives to bottle, my dogs, chickens, and sheep all have to be fitted in around starting our new internet business.

Blogs are an important part of what we have to do, and that takes up a couple of hours a day, but its worth it as it does encourage people to our site.

The next part of my journey will be to modify this site and add a box so that we can offer more FREE STUFF.

If you charge too little, people will think it's of little value, and they won't purchase it, or even it they do buy your book, you will have to sell thousands of copies to get to the point where you can begin to see a profit. If you price it too high when compared with your competition, you will find yourself steadily lowering the price, which will cause you all kinds of new problems in the future. For example, if you sell your ebook at first for $39.99, and later reduce it to $24.95, don't you think the people who bought it for $39.99 are not going to be happy.

Choosing the right price for your ebook is one of the most critical parts of the marketing process. The first rule of pricing ebooks is to never under price. Determine the highest price your audience can afford, and then if you find your book isn?t selling, you can always reduce the price. Before you take that step, make sure you are promoting your book like crazy on the Internet and on websites. The price should be aimed at bringing in profits, but you should never forget that price is one of the factors that people use in judging the value of your ebook ? before they buy it. So always start with the highest price, and then launch a mega-marketing campaign.

Pricing an ebook is particularly difficult because ebooks are a fairly new commodity. Since they are digital, the value of an ebook is as confusing as the understanding of what digital actually is to the average layperson. After you figure out your goal, you must figure out what your audience's need is for your ebook. For example, does your book solve a particular problem? An effective technique for figuring out a price is to send out a survey to your current customers. If these customers have already bought an ebook from you, ask for their opinion in terms of price. Do this by creating a sales page for the new book, but don't include a price on that page. There are many different compilers to chose from, but first, you need to know exactly what an ebook compiler does. Here is the simple explanation:

Download the trial version and make sure that it actually does what it claims to do.

3. If you plan to sell your ebook, check out the security features of the compiler software carefully. Well, I just can't think of a single darn thing to say.

Does that sound familiar? I believe we've all experienced this phenomenon when we absolutely have to write something, particularly on deadline. I'm talking about. . . . .uh, I can't think of what the word is . . . oh, yes, it's on the tip of my tongue . . . it's

WRITER'S BLOCK!!!!

Whew! I feel better just getting that out of my head and onto the page!

Writer's block is the patron demon of the blank page. You may think you know EXACTLY what you're going to write, but as soon as that evil white screen appears before you, your mind suddenly goes completely blank. I'm not talking about Zen meditation stare-at-the-wall-until-enlightenment-hits kind of blank.

I'm talking about the sweat trickling down the back of your neck, anguish, panic attacks and suffering kind of blank. The tighter the deadline, the worse the anguish of writer's block gets.

Having said that, let me say it again. "The tighter the deadline, the worse the anguish of writer's block gets." Now, can you figure out what might possibly be causing this horrible plunge into speechlessness?

Obviously the answer is: FEAR! You are terrified of that blank page. You are terrified you have absolutely nothing of value to say. You are afraid of the fear of writer's block itself!

It doesn't necessarily matter if you've done a decade of research and all you have to do is string sentences you can repeat in your sleep together into coherent paragraphs. Writer's block can strike anyone at any time. Based in fear, it raises our doubts about our own self-worth, but it's sneaky. It's writer's block, after all, so it doesn't just come and let you know that. No, it makes you feel like an idiot who just had your frontal lobes removed through your sinuses. If you dared to put forth words into the greater world, they would surely come out as gibberish!

Let's try and be rational with this irrational demon.
Let's make a list of what might possibly be beneath this terrible and terrifying condition.

1. Perfectionism. You must absolutely produce a masterpiece of literature straight off in the first draft. Otherwise, you qualify as a complete failure.

2. Editing instead of composing. There's your monkey-mind sitting on your shoulder, yelling as soon as you type "I was born?," no, not that, that's wrong! That's stupid! Correct correct correct correct?

3. Self-consciousness. How can you think, let alone write, when all you can manage to do is pry the fingers of writer's block away from your throat enough so you can gasp in a few shallow breaths? You're not focusing on what you're trying to write, your focusing on those gnarly fingers around your windpipe.

4. Can't get started. It's always the first sentence that's the hardest. As writers, we all know how EXTREMELY important the first sentence is. It must be brilliant! It must be unique! It must hook your reader's from the start! There's no way we can get into writing the piece until we get past this impossible first sentence.

5. Shattered concentration. You're cat is sick. You suspect your mate is cheating on you. Your electricity might be turned off any second. You have a crush on the local UPS deliveryman. You have a dinner party planned for your in-laws. You . . . Need I say more. How can you possibly concentrate with all this mental clutter?

6. Procrastination. It's your favourite hobby. It's your soul mate. It?s the reason you've knitted 60 argyle sweaters or made 300 bookcases in your garage workshop. It's the reason you never run out of Brie.

FACE IT, IT'S ONE OF THE REASONS YOU HAVE WRITER'S BLOCK!

How YOU CAN Overcome Writer's Block

Okay. I can hear that herd of you running away from this article as fast as you can. Absurd! you huff. Never in a million years, you fume. Writer's block is absolutely, undeniably, scientifically proven to be impossible to overcome.

Oh, just get over it! Well, I guess it's not that easy. So try to sit down for just a few minutes and isten. All you have to do is listen ? you don't have to actually write a single word.

Ah, there you all are again. I am beginning to make you out now that the cloud of dust is settling.

I am here to tell you that WRITER'S BLOCK CAN BE OVERCOME.

There are ways to trick this nasty demon. Pick one, pick several, and give them a try. Soon, before you even have a chance for your heartbeat to accelerate, guess what? You're writing.

Here are some tried and true methods of overcoming writer's block:

1. Be prepared. The only thing to fear is fear itself. (I know, that's a clich?but as soon as you start writing, feel free to improve on it.) If you spend some time mulling over your project before you actually sit down to write, you may be able to circumvent the worst of the crippling panic.

2. Forget perfectionism. No one ever writes a masterpiece in the first draft. Don't put any expectations on your writing at all! In fact, tell yourself you're going to write absolute garbage, and then give yourself permission to happily stink up your writing room.

3. Compose instead of editing. Never, never write your first draft with your monkey-mind sitting on your shoulder making snide editorial comments. Composing is a magical process. It surpasses the conscious mind by galaxies. It's even incomprehensible to the conscious, editorial, monkey-mind.

So prepare an ambush. Sit down at your computer or your desk. Take a deep breath and blow out all your thoughts. Let your finger hover over your keyboard or pick up your pen. And then pull a fake: appear to be about to begin to write, but instead, using your thumb and index finger of your dominant hand, flick that little annoying ugly monkey back into the barrel of laughs it came from. Then jump in ? quickly! Write, scribble, scream, howl, let everything loose, as long as you do it with a pen or your computer keyboard.

4. Forget the first sentence. You can sweat over that all-important one-liner when you've finished your piece. Skip it! Go for the middle or even the end. Start wherever you can. Chances are, when you read it over, the first line will be blinking its little neon lights right at you from the depths of your composition.

5. Concentration. This is a hard one. Life throws us so many curve balls. How about thinking about your writing time as a little vacation from all those annoying worries. Banish them! Create a space, perhaps even a physical one, where nothing exists except the single present moment. If one of those irritating worries gets by you, stomp on it like you would an ugly bug!

6. Stop procrastinating. Write an outline. Keep your research notes within sight. Use someone else's writing to get going. Babble incoherently on paper or on the computer if you have to. Just do it! (I know, I stole that line from somewhere?). Tack up anything that could possibly help you to get going: notes, outlines, pictures of your grandmother. Put the cookie you will be allowed to eat when you finish your first draft within sight ? but out of reach. Then pick up the same type of writing that you need to write, and read it. Then read it again. Soon, trust me, the fear will slowly fade away. As soon as it does, grab your keyboard ? and get writing!

e-book scene. Maybe you want to build a whole business around writing and publishing e-books. Essentially, you want to start an e-business. So if you are thinking of setting up a website to promote and market your e-books, you could also be thinking of producing an ezine.

One of the most common reasons that people read an e-book, is to find information about how to turn their Internet businesses into a profit-making machine. And these people are looking to the writers of e-books to provide them with new ideas and strategies because, people that write e-books are usually people who understand the new cyberspace world we now live in.

E-book writers are experts in Internet marketing campaigns and the strategies of promoting and distributing e-books. The cyberspace community needs its
e-books to be successful so that more and more e-books will be written.

You may want to create affiliate programs that will also market your e-book. Affiliates can be people or businesses worldwide that will all be working to sell your e-books. Think about this? Do you see a formula for success here?

Figure out what your subject matter is, and then narrow it down. Your goal is to aim for specificity. Research what's out there already, and try to find a gap that your e-book might fill. Make yourself an expert.

After you've written your e-book, getting your e book out is going to be your main focus once you've finished writing it, just as it is with print books. People will hesitate to buy any book from an author they've never heard of. Wouldn't you?

The answer is simple: give it away! You will see profits in the form of promoting your own business and getting your name out. You will find affiliates who will ask you to place their links within your e-book, and these affiliates will in turn go out and make your name known. Almost every single famous e-book author has started out this way.

Another powerful tool that will attract people to your e-book is to make it interactive. You could invent something for them to do within the book rather than just producing pages that contain static text. Let your readers fill out questionnaires, forms, or even crossword puzzles geared to testing their knowledge on a particular subject. Have your readers hit a link that will allow them to recommend your book to their friends and associates. You should include an actual order form so at the end of their reading journey, they can eagerly buy your product.

When people interact with books, they become a part of the world of that book. The fact is just as true for books in print as it is for e-books. That's why e-books are so essential, not only do they provide a forum for people to learn and make sense of their own thoughts, but they can also serve to promote your business at the same time.

Why Write An E-Book? Part One: Why Feeling the need to continue helping people, who want to start up in business maybe working from home, on the internet, or a bricks and mortar business? For me the next step on my journey is to turn my book into an e-book. Publishing an e-book is entirely different than publishing your book in print. So let's take a look at the specifics of how the print and cyber publishing industry differ, and the many reasons why you should take the plunge and get your fingers tapping across those keyboards!

Submitting a print book to conventional publishing houses or to agents is similar to wearing a hair shirt 24/7 a nightmare. No matter how good your book actually is, or how many critique services and mentor writers have told you that "you've got what it takes," your submitted manuscript could keep coming back to you as if it is a boomerang instead of a valuable mine of information.

Perhaps, in desperation, you've checked out self-publishing and found out just how expensive a venture it can be. Most "vanity presses" require minimal print runs of at least 500 copies, and even that amount will cost you thousands of dollars. Some presses' minimal run starts at 1,000 to 2,000 copies. And that's just for the printing and binding. Add in distribution, shipping, and promotional costs and - well, you do the math. Even if you wanted to go this route, you may not have that kind of money to risk.

It's not true that everything that has been said has already been written. Since that unfortunate idea came into use, the whole universe has changed. Technology has changed, ideas have changed, and the mindsets of entire nations have changed.

I felt that this is the perfect time to turn my book into an e-book. What the publishing industry needs are people who can tap into the world as it is today – innovative thinkers who can make the leap into the new millennium and figure out how to solve old problems in a new way. E-books are not entirely a new idea, but they are a powerful tool for original thinkers with fresh ideas to disseminate information to the millions of people who are struggling to figure out how to do all sorts of different things.

As mentor for the Princes Trust I used my book to help the many small business that where allocated to me to mentor, therefore I knew that this was going to be helpful to a wide range of people. Start up businesses or ones that were already up and running, small or large. Not wanting to go down the road of approaching publishers I’ve chosen to opt of turning it into and e-book.

If you already have a good idea, and the knowledge to back it up that will enable you to write an exceptional e-book. You may be sitting at your computer staring at a blank screen wondering, "Why? Why should I go through all the trouble of writing my e-book when it's so impossible to get anything published these days?

Well let's say you already have an Internet business with a quality website and a quality product. An e-book is one of the most powerful ways to promote your business while educating people with the knowledge you already possess as a business owner of a specific product or service.

For example, say that you've spent the last twenty-five years growing and training bonsai trees, and now you're ready to share your knowledge and experience. An e-book would be a perfect way to reach the largest audience of bonsai enthusiasts.

E-books will not only promote your business - they will help you make a name for yourself and your company, and establish you as an expert in your field. You may even find that you have enough to say to warrant a series of e-books. Specific businesses are complicated and often require the different aspects to be divided in order for the reader to get the full story.

A confused mind always does nothing!
That just might be the single most important sentence you'll ever hear. I suggest you read it again. In fact, you might want to write it down and tape it to your computer so you see it all the time.

Being retired is not for me and so I decided to write a book and at the moment it is sat on my computer looking at me. Turning it into an e-book is the start of my journey. A product of my own that will help start my new Successful Business. You will be able use this e-book to guide, help and support you whether you are a start up business or a fully fledged company.

Do you feel that there are not enough hours in the day, not had time to draw breath. Well its time to TAKE STOCK and FOCUS and If at first it all appears too much to take in use the salami approach, one bite at a time.

We all have Dreams if your reading my blog it could be that your Dream is to have a Successful Business, it does not matter if your Dream is to have a bricks and mortar business or an online business that basics are the same.

What are your goals have you written them down, have you checked that what you have wrote is what you really want. Will it benefit you and your family?

Have you a Plan? A Road Map to Your Success? If you have not then sit down now and do one. Involve your family in creating your plan as you will have to keep them on board,.

Remember this is your dream not theirs. Their dream could be entirely different to yours, which could at time cause conflict. Sort it out now start planning together.

A Word of Advice

Wow what a last few days it as been, now at last I have a little time to catch my breath and add a little more to my blog, firstly my thanks to Ina for leaving me a such nice comment.

I am writing my blog from Spain, our study window looks out on to a view of the National Park and the Mountains, the sun is shining and as I’m writing you can hear the drone of our generator in the background. The generator is supplying the electricity to my computer. Who said running a business from home was going to be easy.

Many people going into business are overwhelmed by the belief they have to start from scratch. In other words; they think they have to reinvent the wheel. Trying to reinvent the wheel is a big waste of time. People think “what can I do that no one as ever done before”? But unless you are a technological genius, like Bill Gate or James Dyson forget it.

For most people starting a business, you simply need to answer the question: “How can I do something better?” or “How can I do it differently from the other guy doing it over there”? Well now you know that you don’t need to reinvent the wheel, you can get on with starting and growing your business.

We all need encouragement to carry on, just Remember the Road to Success is always under Construction. But don’t worry – success is like oxygen – it keeps you going. There are many roads to Success this is just one of them. The secret of getting ahead is getting started. The secret of getting started is breaking your complex overwhelming tasks into small manageable tasks, and then starting on the first step.

Running your own business is neither as mysterious as some would have you believe, nor as risky as legend would have it. But it is a journey that is best not taken alone.

Starting on a New Journey

I hope you have visited my blog because you are either looking to start up in business or are already in business, this is my very first attempt at writing a blog though it is not my first attempt at writing.

My husband and I ran several businesses over the last thirty five years. Both of us were business advisors for many of those years, this was before it was a sexy thing to be and when being an entrepreneur was a dirty word.

My book was written as a result of all my experiences of being an entrepreneur and business advisor and will shortly become available as an e-book.

Thanks to my husband James for his encouragement and patience whilst my-book was finished, so that the knowledge we have gathered over the years could be made available to a wider audience and not be wasted, without his support I would not have attempted writing it.

Also to the people who just because they thought I was crazy, gave me the passion to carry the project through.

Last but not least thank you to all the small and medium enterprises that worked with me, we have gained much from each other.

Are my ideas the only road to having a successful business? No I’m not that smug!. What I do know however is that the road to success that I’m about to reveal to you as been repeated many times by my clients and other and it as worked for them.

As retirement does not fit me I am now on a new road from a bricks and mortar business to an internet business and very excited as a whole new way opens up.
